Analog CCTV Technology
90's Era Technology
Analog technology has long been a mainstay in the CCTV camera system ecosystem. An analog camera records the video and then sends the signal over to a DVR (Digital Video Recorder). The DVR converts the video from analog to digital signals, compresses the file, and stores it on a hard drive.
Coaxial Cable Technology
Coaxial cables are used to transmit the signal from the cameras to the DVR, while a twin-flat cable is used for supplying power to the camera.
Sub-HD Resolution
Analog cameras are limited to resolutions of the NTSC standard of 480 scanlines or the PAL standard of 576 scanlines - greatly limiting image clarity & resolution on modern displays such as HD TVs.

AHD/TVI CCTV cameras are upgraded versions of the Analog CCTV standard, bringing enhanced resolutions to the table, while retaining the same coaxial cable to DVR setup.
